A Silesian Zwischengoldglas Silhouette Portrait Glass, circa 1790, by Johann Sigismund Menzell, the semi-ovoid bowl with two Zwischengold oval silhouette portraits of a lady and gentleman, the reverse with a similar panel inscribed Dem Biedern Freunde Seidler zum Andenken der Freundschafft Gewidmet within engraved laurel and vine cartouche above a cut honeycomb band on an octagonal swept foot, 12.5cm high See Sotheby's Concise Encyclopaedia of Glass, pg.88, for a discussion of the production of Zwichengoldglas in Warmbrunn and the portrait silhouette glasses produced there by Johann Sigismund Menzell (1744-1810).
