A Pair of Ormolu Mounted Blue John Obelisk Candelabra, 19th century, the mounts in the manner of Pierre-Philippe Thomire, the Derbyshire spar obelisks with four eagle-headed foliate sheathed scrolling branches with rosette terminals and campana nozzles, on beaded collars and square bases applied with triple lilies within tied laurel wreaths, the stepped square black marble bases mounted with stiff leaf angles, 51cm high, 31cm wide

Condition Report: Item 1 - numerous cracks through breakage to upper 6cm section of obelisk. Another crack right around the obelisk by eagle's head mounts, probably originally broken off, crude glue residue. Some typical chipping to angles of the spar and with stress cracks typical of the material, and surface scratching. Mounts to base loose and possibly covering small damages and cracks? Tiny chips to angles on black marble base. Metalwork with some typical oxidisation and staining in the pans. Item 2 - tiny chips on tip of both obelisks. Small chip on one angle 4cm from tip. Obvious signs of former cracking with some filling and restoration (piece probably been broken off completely). Typical small chipping to angles. Lily mounts to base loose and probably covering some cracks and repair. Some visible damage to edges of base. Very minor flakes to extremities of black marble base. Typical oxidisation to surface of gilding and with some minor staining to gilding. Shows typical minor chipping to extremities, typical of the natural of the material. 300512
