An Outstanding Service Group of Fourteen Medals, to Lieutenant Colonel Nathan Cohen, comprising an OBE (appointed 1990), Serving Brother of the Order of St.John, 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, Defence Medal, War Medal, Colonial Police Medal for Meritorious Service, 1953 Coronation Medal, Territorial Efficiency Decoration (George VI) with four bars, (first awarded 1948), Service Medal of the Order of St John, Voluntary Medical Service Medal and the Sultan of Johore Diamond Jubilee Medal, all mounted, a Dunkirk Medal and a National Service Medal, together with cases of issue for the OBE and Coronation medals; a German Third Reich War Merit Cross, with swords, second class and a copy of an SS pin.
**Nathan Leslie Cohen was born in Stockton in 1908 and was educated in the town and Clifton College. He became a solicitor and joined the TA (DLI) in 1926. Called up in 1939. From 1939-49 he served as the senior legal officer at Corinthia, Austria. Frome 1949-58 he was president of the Sessions Court in Malaya, in 1954 he was called to the bar. Stationed in Cyprus three years later as Justice of Special Courts. He returned to Stockton where he was involved with several charitable organisations and was presented with the honour of being a Freeman of the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees.
