A Japanese Wakizashi, the 46.5cm single edge steel blade with two piece white metal habaki, the tang bearing traces of a signature and three mekugi ana, the iron tsuba cast with rockwork and trees, braid bound fish skin grip with bronze turtle menuki, the iron kashira and fuchi decorated with a buffalo and a dragonfly in gilt.

The blade has black blemishes to the tip and minor surface pitting 8cm from the habaki on the sharp edge. There is some rust pitting to the iron tsuba. The tang has rust pitting and a very faint signature. The black lacquer saya is decorated with a bird and fruiting vine in green and gilt, there is some scratching near the tip, the kozuka is missing.
