A Late 18th/Early 19th Century Brass Four Barrel Tap Action Flintlock Pistol by Rea, London, the 11.5cm brass turn-off barrels numbered 4,5,6 and 7, with London proof marks and stamped IR, with foliate engraved and signed action, steel cock (top jaw missing), frizzen pan, tap (lever missing) and trigger guard, the remains of the walnut butt inlaid with stars and tendrils in silver; together with a brass belt clasp applied with the initials RB. **This pistol was used in the Indian Mutiny. It was walled up by the vendor's ancestor to prevent it from falling into enemy hands, but unfortunately part of the grip was subsequently eaten away by white ants.

MASS. on the barrel rib, with cylinder stop to the top strap, the plain cylinder stamped "PATENTED APRIL 3.1855, JULY 5.1859 & DEC 18.1860", with rosewood two piece grip, the butt strap numbered 63602, the inner frame and cylinder stamped 6Z, contained in a later fitted mahogany case.
