A Gilt Brass Champleve Enamel Striking and Repeating Carriage Clock, circa 1900, the anglaise case with carrying handle and repeat button to the top, bevelled glass panels, highly decorated throughout with multi-coloured champleve enamel, the circular white enamel dial with Arabic numerals, blued steel spade hands, twin barrel movement with silvered platform lever escapement, bimetallic balance, striking on a coiled gong, movement backplate stamped EM & Co for (E Maurice & Co), and numbered "4534", 14.5cm high to hilt of handle, original key stamped "4534" see illustration

E Maurice & Co are recorded working at Rue Charlot 75, Paris in the late 19th century. The company specialised in cloisonne enamels and unusual dials. They showed carriage clocks in the Paris Exhibition of 1889. See Allix (Charles) Carriage Clocks, p.446.
