Born in London, studied at the College of Art Gloucester and Cheltenham 1948-1952, Head of Painting at Ulster College of Art, Belfast 1953-1960. From 1960-1970 he worked in the Extra-Mural Department of Queens' University Belfast and 1978-1980 lectured at the Victoria & Albert Museum and the National Gallery. He had solo exhibitions at the Kenny and James Galleries, Dublin, and exhibited with the Cork Arts Society, the Solomon and Oriel Galleries, Dublin and the Metropolis International Gallery d'Art, Geneva, and shown at the Belgrave Gallery, London and the Wren Gallery, Oxford.
