William Jamesr Hubard (c.1809-1862) Cut his first portrait at the age of twelve. He took the portraits of the President and Mrs Franklin Pierce in America in 1824. In 1862 he met his death as a member of the Confederate Army whilst filling a shell at Richmond, Virginia.
