A George III Mahogany Elbow Chair, the back with undulating toprail and pierced splat between out-curved arms, drop-in seat on square legs united by a stretcher

This chair is virtually identical to chairs supplied by Gillows of Lancaster to Sizergh Castle, near Kendal, in 1765. It has the stop-chamfered back legs and stretcher joints typical of the Gillows workshop at this period. See Stuart (2008), I, pp. 144-47.
