Lieutenant Allen W Smith, 16th Rifle Battalion, The King's (Liverpool) Regiment and the Royal Flying Corps - A Very Interesting Set of Six Volumes of First World War Letters, Telegraphs and Ephemera, typed transcripts, dating from September 1914 to 18th March 1917, written to his mother and father, and describing his life throughout the war. Together with portrait photographs, a hand written letter to his parents from A K Barnes of the Liverpool Cotton Exchange congratulating them on the recommendation that their son receive the Victoria Cross (not awarded), and a copy of The Cotton Review April 1917 containing an obituary of the above. Allen Smith was tragically killed in a flying accident at Fern Hill, Market Drayton on 18th March 1917; a Pilot's Flying Log Book to Lieutenant Charles F Smith (brother of the above), dating from 5th August 1916 to 26th May 1917 when he was shot down and taken prisoner, and then from April to September 1919, together with his Victory Medal, a portrait photograph and hand written letter; seven other medallions and badges.
