World War One Poetry
A collection of autograph letters and manuscript poems written in 1915 by Lt. Dyneley Hussey, of the 13th Battalion, the Lancashire Fusiliers, comprising; nine A.L.S. the majority of 3 to 4 pages, and dated between March and July 1915, together with twenty-eight manuscript poems, dated between February and September 1915, the poems are generally initialled or signed by Hussey, however at least three are by other authors, (two initialled R.S., a third from a Co. Dublin address). The letters, mainly addressed to a Mrs Palmer, discuss the author's poetry and often accompanied the poetry. The author also requests artwork for his book Fleur de Lys, Poems of 1915, published by Erskine Macdonald in April 1916, a first edition of which is included in the collection. Several letters and poems are on Battalion notepaper. Also included is a signed photograph of the author in military uniform and photocopies of his work as published in 'Soldier Poets, Songs of the Fighting Men'. Preserved in archival album.
