Lot 190 - An 1863 Penny Die Number 5, this die number has only recently been discovered, previously die numbers 2,3 and 4 have been recorded by Michael Freeman and Michael Gouby. The coin has been inspected by the Royal Mint authorities including the chief engraver, who shares the view the figure beneath the date is indeed a 5, thus making this new find numismatically important, one of two known. FINE, sold with a copy of a letter from the Royal Mint dated 1988
