Music to Your Ears… Superb Quality Musical Instruments  to sell at Auction

 

On Saturday, 20th October 2007 Tennants will be holding a specialist sale of musical instruments which includes some of the finest quality stringed instruments they have ever previously offered for sale.  For the professional musician there are some excellent violins including an 18th Century Italian Violin with two signed silver mounted bows estimated to sell for £6,000-£8,000 or a late 19th century French Viola estimated at £3,000-£5,000.  For the novice there is also a wide choice of more affordably estimated stringed instruments including violins, violas and guitars.

A number of high quality mechanical music boxes also feature in the sale including an exceptional Seeburg 1958 Jukebox (of the same type which sold recently at Tennants for £2,800) estimated at £700-£1,000, a rare floor standing Penny-in-Slot Symphonion Music Automaton which plays three metal discs at the same time for a fuller sound, estimated at £4,000-£6,000, a top of the range Edison Concert Phonograph in good working order and estimated at £2,000-£3,000 and a number of Cylinder Musical Boxes estimated at £300-£400.

The sale also features Cameras, Scientific Instruments and Tools with some excellent Leica cameras to go under the hammer including a Leica M6 Camera (estimate £500-£800), a Leica IIIg Camera (estimate £400-£600) and a Leica M3 Single Stroke Advance Camera (estimate £400-£600).
