Tennants Successful First On-Line Auction of Guinness Memorabilia and
Ronson Lighters

 

For those collectors who were unable to attend the sale in person, on-line bidding was the perfect solution at Tennants Auctioneers. With almost a third of bidders on the internet, the sale of Guinness Memorabilia and Ronson Lighters was a great success on Saturday, 18th March and there were some very strong prices being made for some rare items. 61 lots were under bid via the internet and 41 people in total bought successfully on-line in a sale which totalled £63,000.

Ronson
The lot which brought the highest price was lot 60, a Junior Bartender lighter, which sold for £1,500 (see photo attached). Other lots which made strong prices included lot 62 - a diving girl lighter for£600, lot 69 – a modern dancer for £800, lot 289 – a large stained glass window for £750, lot 324 – 5 enameled silver lighters for £900 and lot 313 – a smokers cabinet which went for £650.

This was a truly international sale with bidders from as far afield as New York, Chicago and Copenhagen. One American bidder who is a serious collector of Ronson Lighters with his own collection of over 350 items, bid over the phone and successfully bought 15 lots costing over £5,500.

Guinness
Some interesting and fun items went for some good prices including lot 216 - a large fiberglass Toucan which brought £750, lot 120 – a Carlton Ware jug which went for £650, lot 134 – a penguin lamp for £500 and lot 162 – a pottery seal lamp for £550.
