Name: Jane Wiltshire BA Hons (Dunelm), RPS (London), JP
Title at Tennants: Head of Stamps & Postal History Department
No. of years at Tennants: 10 years
Previous employment: Worked at Stanley Gibbons
Favourite lot ever sold & why: A Queen Victoria to King George VI British Commonwealth collection from an elderly gentleman who had collected for over 50 years and needed to sell it as his eyesight was failing and he wanted to help his grandchildren through college - the price realised greatly exceeded his expectations!
Career highlight at Tennants/memorable occasion: A home visit to a deceased estate - the collector had many health issues and was also deaf and dumb. He had educated himself through collecting stamps and had bought very carefully - looking at cost, condition, etc.
Important or exciting collections sold through you and why you've enjoyed it: Everyone collects differently. I have the job of understanding the clients' collection, how and why they collected as they did. Many collections are a pleasure to work with whether they are left whole or broken up.
