Spring Fine Art Sale 24 & 25 March
Entries invited for all forthcoming sales.
Over the years, Tennants Auctioneers have sold a diverse range of paintings, from 17th and 18th century masterpieces through to modern British Art.
We continue to attract an increasing number of serious art buyers from around the world.
Examples by Yorkshire, Lake District and Northumbrian artists perform particularly well, while Irish, Welsh and Scottish works attract a great many private collectors fiercely competing for their ownership.
Tennants hold the world record for the Irish artist Sean Keating (1889-1978), selling “Ulysses off Connemara” for £400,000. We also sold Laurence Stephen Lowry’s “Factory Gates with Figures” for £140,000.
Other strong performers are works by the Staithes Group of artists including Mark Senior, Frederick W. Jackson, Joseph R. Bagshawe, Henry S. Hopwood. Herbert Royle and members of the Wharfedale Group are also sought after by local private collectors.
We are happy to provide information and advice to both buyers and sellers, including auction appraisals conducted by our in-house team and network of consultants.
