Imported from Africa as a live specimen and acquired from Dr Richard Leakey 07/12/1976, from a private Herpetologist's live collection 1960-1986

Leopard Tortoises are found throughout the savannahs of Africa, they favour semi-arid thorny to grassland habitats, although some have been found in rainier areas. In both very hot and very cold weather they may dwell in abandoned fox, jackal or anteater holes. They generally have a life span of 100 years.
