The Motor Cars, Motorcycles and Automobilia Sales at Tennants Auctioneers attract a loyal following of collectors, drawn by the combination of iconic design, precision engineering and performance that classic cars offer.
Recent department highlights include the sale of a rare 1935 Bugatti Type 57 Grand Raid Tourer to a private international buyer for £450,000 (inc. buyer’s premium). In addition to early collectors’ cars, there is a strong demand for modern classic cars from the 1980s, with buyer’s seeking the iconic cars of their youth. Porsche’s in particular have grown in popularity recently, and a 1984 Porsche 911 Sport Carrera Convertible sold recently for £44,800 (inc. buyer’s premium). Classic British motoring icons, such as the MG and Land Rovers, continue to perform strongly too, with a 1974 Land Rover Series III sold recently for £13,400 (inc. buyer’s premium) and a Land Rover Defender 90 XS TD sold for £41,440 (inc. buyer’s premium).
Notable results have also been achieved for classic motorcycles in the past year, with a Norton Model 18 500cc Flat Tank Motorcycle topping the section last November selling for £24,640 (inc. buyer’s premium).
Entries are now invited for the next sale of Motor Cars, Motorcycles and Automobilia on 7th October 2018.
