Steve is an auctioneer, senior valuer and the Head of the Harrogate Office, where he is based. From here, Steve carries out professional valuations and valuations for sale throughout the country, and heads the team running the External Valuation Days at venues across the North of England.
Steve has a wide knowledge of all areas of arts and antiques, and combines a good academic grounding with an informed overview of the current art and antiques market. He has particular fascination with unusual historical items, such as the dog collar belonging to Lord Byron’s favourite Newfoundland, Boatswain, which was consigned through the Harrogate Office in 2017.
Prior to joining Tennants in 2016, Steve spent four years as the Manager and Senior Valuer at Bonhams Guildford, having previously worked on their prestigious Athenaeum Sales in Bury St Edmunds. Steve has also held saleroom roles at Phillips and Sotheby’s in London.
