British & Continental Ceramics & Glass Auctioneers

Spring Fine Art Sale 24 & 25 March

Entries invited for all forthcoming sales.

Over the years the Ceramics & Glass Department at Tennants Auctioneers has dealt with an exciting range of pieces from the smallest bird whistle to monumental exhibition pieces, and from all the major factories.

Pottery, including faience and stoneware, and porcelain items are all covered by this department and, although one would expect the emphasis to be on Yorkshire pottery and Rockingham wares, collectors who follow our sales will find pieces across the Continental range from Chelsea, Bow, Lowestoft and Liverpool, to Sèvres, Maiolica and Meissen.

Significant sales have included an exceptional 18th century du Paquier vase, a very scarce 19th century majolicaware ‘butterfly box’ complete with original cover, and a large private collection of 18th century Meissen figures.

Tennants’ in-depth expertise also covers glass, from ancient Roman pieces through to 20th century Art Glass, and includes 17th-19th century drinking glasses, decanters, Bohemian glass and scent bottles.

Many lots of ceramics and glass go through both the Antiques & Interiors sales and Country House sales, with the more unique examples being sold in the Fine Art Sales.
