Highlights of our Autumn sales including a rare early 19th century depiction of a boxing match that took place in Gretna Green in front of a crowd of 30,000 people.
Highlights including items from an important historical taxidermy from a Private Country House Collection in North Yorkshire. Never having appeared on the market before, the specimens were collected by the family in the late 19th and early 20th century and prepared by leading taxidermists of the day such as Rowland Ward, James Gardner, and Pretoria-based J.R. Ivy.
Highlights of the November Asian Art Sale, including good Japanese Bronze Vases.
Two small family archives relating to two Olympic Athletes, Frederick Holmes who competed in the Tug of War in 1920, and William Pearson, a swimmer in the 1936 Berlin games.
The sale will offer over 120 lots of rare and early silver, jewellery ancient world through to the early modern period, intricate objects of vertu and a selection of key reference books from the collection of the late Anthony Phillips, a Silver and Objects of Vertu specialist and collector.
