Q & A with Jeremy

Name: Jeremy Pattison

Title at Tennants: Managing Director

Other attributes: Auctioneer, General valuer & Furniture specialist

No. of years at Tennants: 8 years

Favourite lot ever sold & why: An 18th century Lombard chest in the manner of Giuseppe Maggiolini; it came from a client's house in the Teesside area. After the sale I telephoned the client to inform them that the chest sold for £50,000, they were driving at the time and had to pull over in shock!

Career highlight at Tennants/memorable occasion: I was thrilled to have been promoted to Managing Director at Christmas but one aspect of the day-to-day business I like most is being hands-on in the furniture department. As it is my specialist field I thrive on days when I can handle and catalogue the different types of furniture we auction.

Important or exciting collections sold through you and why you've enjoyed it: I started auctioneering when I was 19 years old and I often think how many lots I have sold throughout my career, ranging from Star Wars memorabilia to large country house estates...it's hard to pick a favourite! All lots sold, whether individual items or large collections are important and the most enjoyable part of my job is always achieving great results for our clients.
