Tennants’ sale of Fine Wine and Whisky on 22nd April offers the chance to own one of the most renowned vintages of Bordeaux of recent times, when two cases of Chateau Lafite Rothschild 1990 come up for auction.
Chateau Lafite Rothschild, in the Pauillac Region of Bordeaux, is one of the world’s most famous estates and the wine it produces is considered by many to be the pinnacle of Claret. The wine produced by the estate in 1990 is an outstanding vintage – and at 25 years old is considered to be an ‘adolescent’, meaning it has yet to reach its peak and will remain an exceptional wine for many years to come. Each case is estimated at £5,000-5,500 (plus buyer’ premium).
Also included in the sale are six cases of Paul Jaboulet Aine Hermitage La Chapelle 1990, from the Rhone region. A wine with a serious reputation, each case is estimated at £3,500-4000. Whisky is well represented in the sale too, with two bottles of Macallan expected to generate much interest. Leading the section is The Macallan 1958/9 25yr old Anniversary Malt; this rare single malt from Speyside is estimate to fetch £1,500-2,000 and comes complete with presentation box and certificate.
