General Valuer and Auctioneer

Tennants is one of the UK’s largest Fine Art Auctioneers and a highly respected family business employing more than 100 staff. From its headquarters in Leyburn, North Yorkshire the business holds more than 80 auctions each year across the full spectrum of Antiques and Fine Arts as well as collecting disciplines such as Coins, Books, Militaria, Textiles etc. There are specialist valuers across 27 departments, each with a good reputation for service and results. Sales regularly achieve a 90% + sold rate and there is a healthy pipeline of consignments across the business.

This new role has been created to expand the busy team of Valuers with specific responsibility for helping to catalogue Tennants’ fortnightly Antiques and Interiors Sales which typically comprise 800-1000 lots of affordable Antiques, Silver, Jewellery and Collectables. In addition to this, you will be responsible for providing face to face and online general valuations to the public. This is a fast paced and deadline driven environment where you will be expected to provide first class client service whilst working under pressure on your own initiative. You’ll need to have some general valuations experience, well developed administrative skills, a keen eye for detail and the ability to engage with clients at all levels. Ideally you will also be auctioneering and if not, would perhaps like to consider this in the future but this is not essential. This is an outstanding opportunity for a career minded professional to develop their valuation skills and to work alongside a friendly, knowledgeable team in a great location.

Hours are 8.30am-5pm Monday to Friday with some Saturday working on a rota basis.

Benefits include:

Company pension scheme
Staff discounts
Five weeks annual holiday plus bank holidays
Use of various corporate discounts and memberships
