Betty Joel. Glamour and Innovation. Furniture and Interior Design in the 1920s and '30s
Join us for a talk by Clive Stewart-Lockhart, Betty Joel’s great-nephew, who knew her well in the closing years of her life. On leaving school he studied for a year on the Sotheby’s Works of Art Course in 1974 and he is now working as an independent art advisor. Clive was a specialist on the BBC Antiques Roadshow for twenty-five years and has been a lecturer with the Arts Society for the last ten years. This talk and book is the result of many years of research and Clive hopes that Betty will be recognised again as the leading furniture maker and designer of the inter-war years in Britain.
