Exhibition: The Language of Flowers – by Richmond & Leyburn Creative Stitchers

19th November 2025 to 18th December 2025

The Garden Rooms at Tennants is delighted to welcome back Richmond and Leyburn Creative Stitchers, for an exhibition of their work from a recent collaboration with the RHS Harlow Carr Library in Harrogate - display of embroidered flowers. Using images from the Lindley Library collections, the stitchers have created a wonderful series of delicate, detailed embroideries they tell the story of the popular 19th century craze, the Language of Flowers, a code used by lovers to exchange messages.

Harlow Carr Library has enjoyed a rich collaboration with the group since 2016. Their other embroidery projects include a series of tiled interpretations of RHS Garden Harlow Carr across the seasons, highlight the beauty of the botanical world, which have been much admired.
