Jewellery, watches and silver were in high demand at Tennants Auctioneers, when its specialist sale on 12th July achieved an extremely strong 96% selling rate as bidders eagerly competed for fine diamonds and luxury watches. The top lot of the day was a 1996 Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Reference 16520/16500, which sold for £25,000 (all figures exclude buyer’s premium). This watch is known to collectors as the ‘Patrizzi’ Rolex, after the specialist watch auctioneer Osvaldo Patrizzi, who researched the material used on the sub-dial chapter that fades to the distinctive toffee colour in this model, which is so highly desirable to collectors. Further notable sales amongst the watches in the sale included an 18 carat gold Patek Philippe Ellipse with the Iraq National Emblem (sold for £10,500), an 18 carat gold Cartier Panthere (sold for £6,800), and a stainless steel Rolex Air King (sold for £3,600).
