29th January 2026.

The Scientific and Musical Instruments, Cameras & Tools Sale on 29th January saw very strong bidding throughout, however, the standout lot of the sale was a very finely built intricate scale model of a Pit Head Headframe with Indian interest, which sold for £3,000 (all figures exclude buyer’s premium). The model was presented to the Chief Mining Engineer of Lodna Colliery Co. on his retirement in 1959 by the Sri R S Prasad Ningha Colliery June.

The musical instrument section of the sale was led by part of a private collection of good quality modern guitars, which sold well following high levels of interest. All the guitars were in very good condition, and top lots included a Gibson Les Paul Custom 1953 Reissue (sold for £2,000), a Rickenbacker 360V64 Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar made in 1984 (sold for £1,500), and a Rickenbacker Model 320 Electric Guitar (sold for £1,300). A further tranche of guitars from the collection will be sold later in the year. Also selling well above estimate in the music section was a Cello (sold for £4,500), a Tuba EEb Yamaha Maestro YEB632 (sold for £1,300), and a collection of over 70 records including examples by Talking Heads, Souxsie and the Banshees and Iron Maiden (sold for £1,800).

Cameras were well represented by the third part of a good private collection of cameras, but the top-selling lots from section came from other vendors, and were a Leica M6 Camera Body (sold for £2,000), a Hasselblad 500C/M Camera (sold for £1,800), and a Panon Cameras Widelux F8 Camera (sold for £1,200).

The sale realised a total hammer price of £67,450, with an 94% sold rate for the 163 lots, and consignments are now open for the next sale on 13th May.
