Tennants Auctioneers is delighted to be sponsoring Robbie Bright in his bid to be selected for the Great Britain Team at the European Universal Trench Championships in Spain this summer. Robbie, who is the Natural History Specialist and an Auctioneer and Valuer at Tennants Auctioneers, took up his gun again in 2016 after a twenty-five-year break from the sport. He says:
“My passion for clay pigeon shooting started as a youngster living in Wensleydale with the encouragement of my father and sister, whom were both crack shots, I thought why not give them some competition - annoyingly for my father and sister I was the first in our family to shoot a perfect 100 straight at trap!”.
Having been selected at 17 as a junior shooter for the England Trap Team, he went on to win the English Open Junior Trap Championship. Since returning to the sport, Robbie went on to shoot for the men's England Automatic Ball Trap team in 2019, and in 2021 was selected again and just missed out on winning the British Open the same year.
This year, Robbie will be attending numerous domestic Championships throughout the season, including the World Automatic Ball Trap Championships held annually in North Wales, where he performed exceptionally well last year winning a Gold medal in his class, and shooting a new personal best score of 192/200 targets over the two day competition, finishing in a tie for 4th place overall, just a mere two targets behind the overall high-gun.
Fired up to compete again this year, Robbie says:
“My aim for this year is to try and qualify for the senior men’s Great Britain Team, to attend the European Universal Trench Championships in Valencia, Spain in July. I am looking forward to taking part in the qualifying selection shoots in April and I am thrilled to be supported by Tennants, where I have worked for over 19 years.”
