Sell, No Reserve: Works from Major Contemporary Art Collection To Be Sold

1st September 2021.

Over 60 contemporary works owned by one of the UK’s foremost art collectors, Frank Cohen, are to be sold without reserve in Tennants Auctioneers’ Modern & Contemporary Art Sale on 9th October.

Due to the closing of one of the warehouses storing his collection, Mr Cohen is releasing onto the market a selection of pieces that he acquired early on in his career as a collector. The sale offers buyers the rare opportunity to own works by established, internationally recognised artists, from an important collection that has been 25 years in the making.

Manchester-born Frank Cohen built a thriving chain of DIY stores across the North of England. Following the sale of the company in the late Nineties, Cohen began assembling an extraordinary collection of artworks from the most dynamic contemporary artists across the globe.

Amongst the varied works on offer are pieces by British artists Charming Baker and Martin Creed, and American artists Sam Falls and Matthew Ronay. With no protective reserves and estimates starting at £300-500 (plus buyer’s premium), the sale offers young or new collectors a rare opportunity to start their own collection.
