Jewellery Valuer (maternity cover)

We are seeking a suitably experienced and qualified Jewellery Valuer to cover a period of maternity leave to start as soon as possible.

The role includes, but is not limited to, face-to-face jewellery valuations, preliminary discussions via telephone and email and attending valuation events at locations around the North of England. You will be responsible for all aspects of the department’s activities: overseeing the cataloguing of monthly jewellery sales and cataloguing six specialist Jewellery, Watches and Silver Sales, producing condition reports, and liaising with vendors throughout the sale process. This also includes organising and attending the public view days for the jewellery sales, and of course, attending on sale days when help might also be required with telephone bidding. There will also be a requirement to provide professional valuations for probate, insurance, and family division.

The ideal candidate will certainly be FGA qualified and preferably DGA. In addition to formal qualifications and preferably industry-related experience, you will need to be able to work quickly and accurately, under pressure, often to tight deadlines. You will need to be highly organised and capable of prioritising and managing your workload. You will also need to be able to work respectfully as part of a team and have relevant IT skills.

The hours of work are 8.30am-5pm Monday to Friday; part-time will be considered. Some evening and weekend working will be required, although this is not a significant aspect of the role.

The role is site-based at our state-of-the-art salerooms in Leyburn, North Yorkshire; there is no opportunity for remote working.
