A Private Collection from Girona

18th January 2021.

The Antiques & Interiors Sale on 29th January will include part of the Collection of the late Juan and Adriana Ferrer, comprising an eclectic mix of antiques and collectables dating from the 19th to mid-20th century. Metalware from around the world sits alongside, Asian edged weapons, German pottery steins, kitchenalia, paintings, jewellery, Continental maiolica tiles, Meerschaum pipes and much more.

Juan Ferrer, a well-known businessman and bon viveur and his sister Adriana, who was a librarian and keeper of their house, lived in the idyllic Catalonian city of Girona, near Barcelona.

Their collection comprises family heirlooms and a host of fascinating items from Africa, the Far East as well as Europe and Spain collected by Juan on frequent travels around the world. The collection was housed in his ‘museum’, a dedicated floor in their apartment in the Barri Vell district of Girona, which he delighted in sharing with family and friends.

Juan gathered together a diverse group of artefacts from across the world, but he had a particular interest in Militaria and built up a large collection, much of which will be sold in the forthcoming Militaria and Ethnographica Sale on 9th April.

The Antiques & Interiors Sale will also include pieces collected by Adriana.
