A Private Collection of Coins and Banknotes is coming under the hammer in a special sale at Tennants Auctioneers on 1st December. Comprising 194 lots from Stuart milled coinage through to Sovereigns of recent date, the sale offers a good opportunity for collectors old and new alike to find interesting coins to add to their collections.
Highlights of the collection include a very rare Victoria 1862 Sovereign in Good Very Fine/Extremely Fine condition (estimate: £1,000-1,500 plus buyer’s premium). A much-coveted 1847 Gothic-type Victoria Proof Crown in About Extremely Fine condition is also one to watch (estimate: £1,000-1,250), as is a 1826 George IV Proof Shilling (estimate: £400-500) and a 1714 Queen Anne Guinea in Nearly Very Fine condition (estimate: £1,000-1,200).
