Property from Applegarth Manor, near Northallerton, comes to auction

Over 250 lots of art and antiques from Applegarth Manor, Welbury, near Northallerton are to be sold in Tennants Auctioneers’ Antiques & Interiors Sale on 19th July.

Property from the Victorian manor to be sold includes a vast assortment of kitchenalia such as a rare set of Maling cobblestone pattern storage jars and copper and ceramic jelly moulds. Decorative furnishing pieces include Victorian oil lamps, cranberry glass, gothic-style candlesticks, an early 18th century Japanned longcase clock, Japanese ceramics, a large pair of Victorian glass domes, a French gilt metal clock set in the Chinese style, various enamel advertising signs as well as a selection of impressive Victorian furniture.

19th and 20th century paintings are also on offer, with a series of etchings after paintings by George Morland, and an original oil painting of a level crossing by 20th century artist Van der Biest. The lots will be open for public viewing on the 17th and 18th July, and the sale will start at 9.30 on Friday 19th July.
