The Scientific and Musical Instruments, Cameras and Tools Sale on 27th September saw Part II of a Fine Collection of Electric and Acoustic Guitars come under the hammer. Amongst the highlights of the collection, and leading the sale, were a Fender Custom Shop John Cruz Master Built Stratocaster Relic 1960 Electric Guitar, which sold for £3,500 (all figures exclude buyer’s premium), and a Fender Custom Shop John Cruz Master Built Stratocaster Relic 1956 Electric Guitar, which sold for £3,200.

Other notable musical instruments in the sale included a Cello labelled ‘Lutherie Artistique Jean Baptiste Colin’ (sold for £1,700), a Bronze-Bodied Soprano Saxophone by Yanagisawa (sold for £2,000), and a Yamaha 411 Flute (sold for £600). Good prices were also achieved for a Fine EMG Mark XB Gramophone, with 29 ½ inch papier-mâché horn, which sold for £3,000, and a Thorens TD124 Record Deck, which sold for £1,300.
Elsewhere in the sale, a fun Showman’s Wibbly-Wobbly Fairground Mirror sold well at £2,000; the mirror was made in the first quarter of the 20th century and was decorated with painted legends such as ‘Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, Who’s the Funniest of Us All?’. A Victorian Mutoscope Viewer and ten reels sold well at £850, and a selection of early 20th century medical skeletons saw competitive bidding, with an Adam, Rouilly & Co. Half Human Skeleton leading the way with a hammer price of £650.
Finally, amongst the cameras in the sale, two Leica M3 Cameras sold well, achieving hammer prices of £1,200 and £950, well above estimate.
The sale realised a total hammer price of £96,310, with an 80% sold rate for the 309 lots.
