School Room Graffiti

8th July 2020.

The history of a piece of antique furniture is always intriguing, but rarely has an object's past life left quite such obvious marks as on this Elizabethan table.

The Elizabethan table, which has a later top, was in a family collection in Dimple Hall East, Egerton, Lancashire for over forty years. Prior to that, by repute, it was housed in a private school in the south of Ireland. Its life as a school room table is evident in all the fascinating childhood carvings scattered across the top.

The images show just a few of our favourites!
