Auctions, Valuations and FAQs

During these times of uncertainty, we have put together some frequently asked questions which we hope you will find helpful.  As always, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you would like to discuss any of your questions, thoughts or concerns personally.

Are your offices open?

Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 8.30am-5pm. Viewing of and attendance at sales are open to the public, there is no need to make an appointment. However all valuations are by appointment only. Please contact us on 01969 623780 or email enquiry@tennants-ltd.co.uk to make your appointment with the relevant specialist.

Are you holding auctions?

Yes. You can view our auctions calendar here.  If you have consigned with us for any of these sales, we will be in touch with a pre-sale advice letter closer to the auction date.

Am I able to view the auctions in person?

Yes, you are now able to view the auctions in person without an appointment. We have taken account of all the Government guidelines on health & safety and with free ample parking, plenty of space for social distancing and regular cleaning of the building and facilities, we have put in place all necessary measures to ensure the safety of clients and staff.

- We will be limiting the number of people in the saleroom during the viewing and sale, to ensure social distancing is adhered to.
- It is now compulsory that you wear a face-covering on our premises.
- We ask that you only handle an item if absolutely necessary.
- Hand gel will be available to use before and after viewing and we have ample washroom facilities.

How can I participate in an auction?

You are welcome to attend the auction in person. In line with Government guidelines, we will be making a note of the name and telephone number of everyone who would like to be in the room during the auction. This will only be held (in line with GDPR) for 21 days. Please note numbers may be limited and priority will be given to those who are bidding.

You can continue to bid with us live online with internet bidding. You are also able to submit an absentee bid and in some cases, telephone bidding may be available. Please click on an auction for more details on viewing arrangements. Please note information may be updated/revised on a regular basis.

Am I able to consign an item(s) for a future sale?

Yes. If you would like to consign an item(s) to a future auction, we would be very pleased to offer you a valuation (by appointment only, Monday to Friday 8:30 – 5pm). Please contact us to make your appointment with the relevant specialist. We also offer initial valuations via email or video link such as Skype, Team Viewer, Zoom etc.

Are you carrying out professional valuations?

Yes. If you require a written valuation for Probate, Insurance or Family Division, please contact jeremy.pattison@tennants-ltd.co.uk

I have bought an item in one of your online auctions, how can I pay?

All payments can be made online or via bank transfer. We are not able to take cash payments at this time.

Am I able to collect?

Collections in person are available by appointment - please call us on 01969 623780. You will be given instructions on how to collect safely, maintaining social distancing.

We can post certain items by request.  Alternatively, our preferred carriers can collect and deliver on your behalf:

How can I keep updated with changes to your auctions and operations?

How are you keeping staff safe?

We are privileged to have a very large building, enabling social distancing. We are following all the Government Health and Safety Guidelines, we have PPE for staff to use and conduct regular cleaning of the building and facilities.

Are the café / restaurant / galleries open?

We are offering a café grab & go service from Wednesday 24th June (then Monday – Saturday 10am-2pm). The bistro, gift shop and galleries will be opening on 4th July – please visit The Garden Rooms website for further information http://tennantsgardenrooms.com/
