Tennants is one of the only UK auctioneers to hold dedicated sales of Fashion, Costume and Textiles. The specialist department handles an extraordinary range of collector’s items and fashion, with sales taking place four times a year. A curated selection of ready to wear Designer Fashion and Accessories are also sold in dedicated sales held three times a year.
Attracting both specialist collectors and private buyers, the Fashion, Costume and Textiles Sales include antique, world and designer costume and accessories from the 17th century to the present day, quilts, linen, lace, embroideries, samplers, and antique and collectable dolls and teddy bears.
The department specialises in selling private collections of costume and collectable items, many of which are displayed ahead of sale in The Garden Rooms at Tennants' galleries. Recent notable private collections sold include Vivienne Westwood: Five Decades at the Cutting Edge, The Contents of Barra Castle, Aberdeen, and an extensive Private Collection of 1920s and 1930s Millinery and Costume.
