A rare bottle of whisky sold for an astounding £8,000 in the Fine Wine and Whisky Sale at Tennants Auctioneers on 9th September, following a heated bidding battle by buyers all over the world (all figures exclude buyer’s premium.
The bottle in question was the Largiemeanoch 1969 10 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, which was issued by the independent bottlers The Whisky Connoisseur in 1979 from a cask of ten-year-old whisky from the Islay distillery Bowmore. It was one of a whole range of bottlings by The Whisky Connoisseur, all marketed under their own archaic-style distillery names.
